How can polyreactive antibodies conquer rapidly evolving viruses?

نویسندگان

چکیده

Broadly neutralizing antibodies against rapidly evolving viruses (e.g., HIV-1 and influenza virus), often manifest antigen-binding promiscuity. Based on a recent study, we hypothesize the significance of antibody polyreactivity in neutralization viruses. We propose that contributes to toleration viral variants shortens time for generating antibodies.

How can avian viruses affect humankind

Avian viruses can have significant impacts on human health and wellbeing. Highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIV) threaten poultry producers with high costs of culling and disposal in the event of an outbreak. Earlier in 2015, a shortage of eggs in the US was caused by HPAIV in commercial layer flocks. In countries with chronic food shortages, HPAIV can have more widespread effects on...

Rapidly Evolving Giant Dermatofibroma

Dermatofibroma, also known as "fibrous histiocytoma", is a benign dermal or subcutaneous poorly circumscribed proliferation of spindle-shaped fibroblasts and macrophages in the dermis. Although it is commonly present as a brownish nodule the legs of females, it may also arise on the upper extremities, trunk, and rarely on the head. The exact pathogenesis is unclear. However, it is widely believ...

Transmission bottlenecks and the evolution of fitness in rapidly evolving RNA viruses.

We explored the evolutionary importance of two factors in the adaptation of RNA viruses to their cellular hosts, size of viral inoculum used to initiate a new infection, and mode of transmission (horizontal versus vertical). Transmission bottlenecks should occur in natural populations of viruses and their profound effects on viral adaptation have been previously documented. However, the role of...

Managing Rapidly-Evolving Scientific Workflows

We give an overview of VisTrails, a system that provides an infrastructure for systematically capturing detailed provenance and streamlining the data exploration process. A key feature that sets VisTrails apart from previous visualization and scientific workflow systems is a novel action-based mechanism that uniformly captures provenance for data products and workflows used to generate these pr...

Rapidly Mutating Drug - Resistant Viruses

Resistance to chemicals is a common current problem in many pests and pathogens that formerly were controlled by chemicals. An extreme case occurs in rapidly mutating viruses such as Human ImmunodeeciencyVirus (HIV), where the emergence of selective drug resistance within an individualpatient may become an important factor in treatment choice. The HIV patient subpopulation that already has expe...
